Mother’s Day Classic fun run/walk

2531 entrants registered for the 3 events held as part of the 2009 Mother's Day Classic Fun Run/Walk which was held in perfect conditions in Hobart on Sunday 10th May 2009.

The first woman across the line in the 8km run was Andrea Marquart.

This year, Womensport and Recreation Tasmania has established a perpetual trophy in memory of our past president, Kate Tamayo, who was killed while on a bike training ride just over 2 years ago. The winner of the WSRT Kate Tamayo Memorial Trophy for the first female under 18 to finish in the 8km run was Claire Terry.

Over 1800 people participated in the 4km walk, so many that it took those at the end of the field over 5 minutes to clear the arena and get onto the road.
